Kawasaki KLR650 Doohickey Kit by Eagle Mike USA.
PLEASE NOTE DOOHICKEY KITS AND PARTS NOW DIRECT VIA EAGLE MIKE IN THE US AND NOT THROUGH OUR US SISTER STORE PROCYCLE.
This basic kit only has the doo, torsion spring, and drill bit – does not include gaskets or the special tools. If you need more than the basic kit we suggest you purchase the Complete Doohickey Kit.
The famous Eagle “doohickey” aka balancer adjustment lever. Machined from solid 17-4ph stainless steel that was heat treated to H900 condition. This is the strongest and best doohickey you can buy. There are copies, but none are as good. We have hade small improvements since the first one was machined in the early 2000’s.
NOTE- Now includes the torsion spring. This is absolutely the best setup for adjusting your counter balancer system in the KLR650 engine. The torsion spring has these features that the extension spring doesn’t:
Captured on install
Takes the slack from the system in the best way
Does not constantly stretch and relax while the engine is running
Much longer adjustment arc compared to extension spring setup.
Much more even tension as the system adjusts.

The rotor bolt is also considered a one-time use part, so be sure to order one of those.
You will need special tools to complete the install. These are available separately or in the complete kit.

Here is a video Watt-Man made of how I hook the end of the spring in place. Be sure to pull the spring around in an arc as you hook it in the slot.

NOTE – All 2008 and early 2009 engines have a deep hole issue in the left side outer cover. We’ll include a (free) bushing /spacer for this when you order directly from us. (needed in last five of the VIN 20800 or below). If you have one of these you will need to email or note that on your order.

The doohickey is worth doing. After installing it with the torsion spring it reduced my KLRs mechanical engine noises. Good product supplied with some instructions, but just follow one of the better YouTube videos and you would be fine fitting DIY. Get the spanner, the puller tool and the torsion spring as well.

Must do for your KLR650, this as well as the torsion spring adds a bit of peace of mind.
Easy to install following one of the many simple YouTube videos.
