The wait is over, Nova Racing DR650 Wide Ratio Transmissions are finally here.

After three plus years of extensive trials and testing in the UK, USA and Australia Nova Racing has released not one but two sets of gear sets.

Want to be able to chug along tough trails and then be able to motor home at high speed on the highway ! Better spread of gears and less revs also means less wear.

Using the highest quality components also means the gearbox will shift better, smoother, quieter and engage more solidly.

The “A” gear set has an 8% wider gear ratio. A lower 1st and 2nd gear while 3rd through to 5th are taller than your stock gearing.

The “B” gear set gives you a 13% gear ratio. 1st gear is even lower again, lower 2nd gear and again 3rd through to 5th are taller than your stock OEM gears.

To put things in perspective if you switched from a standard 15 tooth sprocket to a 14 tooth sprocket this would lower your gearing in ALL gears by 7.1%.

Switching from a 15 tooth to a 16 tooth sprocket would raise your gearing by 6.6% in ALL gears.

NOTE – our technician and friend Alex at Skinnys Garage in Brisbane has fitted the A Kit to our own project bike, along with 790 kit, cam, big valves etc etc, if we ever get time the project will get finished and it may just get to turn a wheel !

NOTE – These folks build complete transmissions for World Superbike teams among others, I’ve actually meet these guys through my trip to England managing a young Australian Superbike rider so believe them to be highly qualified to build this set of replacement gears.
